Way Out West™ is a podcast about the people, stories, and values of the American West, past and present.
Through long-form conversations, historical storytelling, and occasional solo reflections, the show preserves the living voice of the West while it is still here to be heard. This isn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. It’s about lived experience, earned wisdom, and traditions that still matter.
What You’ll Hear
- Stories from cowboys, ranchers, horsemen, artists, and Western originals.
- History told plainly and honestly, without romance or revision.
- Reflection on work, responsibility, resilience, and meaning through a Western lens.
No outrage. No hurry. Just good stories told well.
About the Host
I’m Chip Schweiger, a Western storyteller, producer, and the creator of Way Out West. I’m also a CPA by trade and a lifelong student of Western history and culture.
Way Out West began as a side project and grew into a calling. The name evolved. The mission did not: to honor the people who live the West and preserve its stories before they disappear.
Why It Matters
The modern world moves fast. The West teaches patience.
Way Out West exists to document values that don’t trend well but endure: responsibility, craft, grit, humor, and restraint.
If that speaks to you, you’re in the right place.
